Installing Java for the modem device driver
-------------------------------------------

If you encounter a Java error while installing the device driver USBDriverInstaller.exe, please download and install jre-6u22-windows-i586-s.exe. Run USBDriverInstaller.exe again - when reinstalling, it may prompt 'C:\Program Files\Sierra Wireless\Drivers' exists - amend 'Drivers' to 'Drivers2' so that the installer may proceed.

For 64 bits Windows, please install both jre-6u22-windows-i586-s.exe and jre-6u23-windows-x64.exe.

Java is used by the modem driver installer (which uses Java to run), and not used by the modem driver itself or AlertDispatcher software.

You may uninstall Java after you have successfully installed Sierra Wireless device driver. This is especially important if the Java you install conflicts with existing JRE installations used by other software on your computer.

*Note:- Please do not install Java unless you encounter that Java error during the modem driver installation.

Old driver
----------
If USBDriverInstaller.exe installer fails, you may install using the old driver method.
